For women with PCOS, skin problems are common due to high levels of androgen (male hormone) which leads to increased sebum production, which in turn causes inflammation and bacterial growth on the skin. Adolescents with PCOS, with unexplained weight gain, facial hair growth, acne, and metabolic disorders present with poor self-image, and a profound psychosocial crisis that may need immediate attention and care.”

Methods of treating PCOS in the teenage years

Dr. Kavita Pujar suggested, “The first thing to do after experiencing the above symptoms is to consult a gynecologist.
