When Masaba Gupta lost 10 kilograms over the course of a year after waking up to her physique, fans were left with only one question: How did Masaba Gupta lose weight? As someone with PCOS, her struggle with weight gain and acne has been as real as for any woman with this endocrine condition. This was coupled with her constant indulgence in her food instincts. But today, this is a “once upon a time” story. The multi-faceted designer and actress set a precedent in her weight loss transformation and how she embraced her fitness journey to beat PCOS like a boss! In this Health Shots interview, Masaba opens up her tips for any girl looking for sustainable ways to manage PCOS and live a healthy life.

At one point in life, Masaba actively played tennis and was a passionate athlete. But then she began channeling her creative energy through dance and music. Masaba wanted to be an actress, but when her mother, Nina Gupta, persuaded her, she found a fashionistas. But anytime and whatever Masaba did, she gave her her best shot and her full focus! That’s exactly what happened with her trying to get fit.

Masaba Gupta’s love for fitness

The 32-year-old, who recently appeared in Masaba Masaba: Season 2, tells Health Shots that the shutdown of the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed her into fitness like never before.

“When the first wave of the pandemic came and the lockdown was announced, I was in Goa. I had some basic equipment like a jump rope, and I asked my coach to give me a 10-day regimen that I could do every morning.”

Masaba’s stress levels were just surfacing with uncertainty about everything, and so she started her new healthy routine.

“Fitness has started a journey of awakening. But I am starting to see results in my work and my body. When you own a company, there are no limits and there is no such thing as a 9 to 5 job… you never stop! But I realized that if I didn’t voluntarily shut down for an hour It’s going to start hurting my business.So, I started fitness to protect my business, protect myself as an entrepreneur, and protect myself as an individual.Now I’m addicted.Masaba says enthusiastically: It’s like a magic pill.

Even her last Instagram post was proof that Masaba absolutely loves her workout sessions.

“More time training = better brain function = better decision making = better output! I may be addicted to exercise but who’s complaining.”

For the unaffected, PCOS is a condition in which a woman’s ovaries produce an excessive amount of androgen. These are male hormones, which are found in women, but in small quantities. PCOS symptoms can range from hirsutism, increased facial hair, hair thinning or hair loss and acne to fertility problems and weight gain.

September is PCOS Awareness Month, and what better than getting some health advice from someone battling it. So here are some tips from Masaba Gupta, who has embraced self-love in her pursuit of wellness!

1. Food and fitness are the best medicine

According to Masaba, the more care you take in terms of what you put into your body, and output in terms of physical activity, the more you will help you overcome the complications of a condition like PCOS.

“These two aspects are very important. There is no substitute or substitute for it,” she says, emphasizing the importance of the right PCOS diet.

2. PCOS management is not for everyone

Everyone’s struggle with PCOS, a hormonal problem that occurs during women’s childbearing years, varies, Masaba says. The symptoms of PCOS may also be different in each woman.

So, she suggests, “You can’t talk to 2-3 friends and see what works for them, and say ‘Let me try this or that.'” You have to find your way and your journey, and decide what works for you. 4. PCOS is not a disease

The actress, who also appeared on Modern Love: Mumbai, says people need to stop seeing PCOS as an illness. Even science calls it a disorder or a syndrome!

“Look at it as a pathway to course correction. Maybe your body just wants you to exercise for an extra 30 minutes, or maybe your body wants you to eat ghee instead of trying 50 universal ingredients that aren’t fit for an Indian body type.” Fad foods are making the rounds among nutrition-conscious people nowadays.

5. Trust in Ayurveda

Last but not least, Masaba urged people to “embrace something close to home…like Ayurveda, that will never fail.”

“We are Indians. “We designed it a certain way, and Ayurveda will always work,” says Masaba.
