Today its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Update for 2022, which highlights the company’s progress toward ESG goals through new and ongoing partnerships and programs reinforcing Del Monte Foods’ continued commitment to being good farmers.

Del Monte Foods’ ESG 2022 update charts progress across the company’s three ESG focus areas: Feeding the Planet, Feeding People, and Feeding Communities.

Highlights include:

  • Purpose commitment of $5 million Del Monte Foods is investing $5 million over the next 10 years to support the well-being of young people and communities across the United States. As part of this commitment, the company partners with a non-profit organization Alliance for a Healthier Generation On the distinctive ‘Feeding Families through School Feeding’ program to develop nutrition education resources for students and their families, centered around under-resourced communities.
  • Determine scientific goals – Last year, Del Monte Foods achieved a 6 percent reduction in total emissions for Scope 1 and 2 from fiscal year 2021 to 2022 and set a net zero target, while adhering to carbon reduction targets in line with Scientific Objectives Initiative (SBTi) net zero standard.
  • Five new products recycled – In fiscal year 2022, five Del Monte Foods products have been certified and recycledTM by the Recycled Food Association, which diverted more than 25 million pounds of food from landfills in just 24 months.
  • Advancing Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Del Monte Foods has increased the percentage of women and BIPOC team members (Black, Indigenous, and Colored) in senior manager and higher roles by 7 percent (for a total of 52 percent diversity in the sector) over the past two fiscal years.
  • Restores In fiscal year 2022, Del Monte Foods team members donated $14,440 to nonprofits of their choice through the company’s Employee Donation Matching Program, while Del Monte Foods made cash donations totaling approximately $500,000. The company also donated more than 3 million pounds of food, worth over $1.5 million.
