Brian Shaw goes vegan

Brian Shaw’s first vegan meal of the day was a tofu scramble with pickled bell peppers, avocado, and even more tofu. In addition, order two parts of this. However, Brian Shaw was already struggling with gnawing at the start of his day, as he compared the experience of forced eating to the beginning of his career.

“I have to say, during all that I had to feed through my diet, in the early years I was trying to gain weight and that kind of thing. It was, I feel, almost easier.”

Brian Shaw’s second meal was from a vegan food truck, where he picked up six tender tacos with seitan (a vegetarian meat substitute), one order of seitan wings and one order of fries. Although it was not his favourite, this meal was much better than his first meal, especially because of the fries. However, he was unable to eat Seitan Wings.

For his third meal of the day, Brian Shaw took a few things from Trifecta. So, his meal consisted of a bowl of lentil salad with herb-roasted potatoes and veggies behind the meatballs. He also had a bowl of quinoa and vegetables with vegan chicken, as well as some Beyond Burgers. Everything seemed tolerable to Brian Shaw, who described everything as “not bad”.

“Definitely for me, I wouldn’t ever replace a bison and that kind of thing, but I’ve tried it.”
